PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide distance measuring equipment which can reduce the erroneous ranging of the case the distance of an object for ranging is calculated by interpolating the correlation values calculated from a pair of AF data obtained from an AF sensor. SOLUTION: When the minimum value of, for example, a shift quantity is -2 and the smallest minimal value is detected by a shift quantity -1 and if the correlation value f(-2) of the shift quantity -2 and the correlation value f(0) of the shift quantity 0 are f(-2)≤f(0), the incapability of ranging is decided.
