The engine, having a flat cylinder head covering each cylinder, at least one air inlet, one exhaust valve and a fuel injector, all parallel to the cylinder's axis (3'), has an annular cavity in each piston face, surrounded by an expulsion zone (4). The base of each piston face cavity is shaped to deflect the fuel/air mixture towards the cylinder head, comnverting its swirling motion into a spiral one. The cavity, which has a raised central section, is divided into angular sectors (10a, 10b) corresponding to the number of fuel jets, each sector having an orthoradial slope (16), preferably of about 7 degrees, to create a spiral profile. |
