A roof rail for a motor vehicle comprises a roof rail foot (1) attachable to a roof panel (2) of a motor vehicle, and a roof rail (8) comprising an opening (12) in which the roof rail foot (1) may be accommodated, wherein the roof rail foot (1) comprises an opening (16) adapted to receive fixing means (14) to extend into the opening (16) in the roof rail (8), the roof rail (8) comprising engagement means (18) with which the fixing means (14) may engage thereby securing the roof rail foot (1) to the roof rail (8).
