NONSEQUENTIAL RETRIEVING METHOD TO TRANSITION DETECTION OF MOVING PICTURE

PURPOSE: A nonsequential retrieving method to transition detection of a moving picture is provided to reduce a frame comparing frequency and increase the accuracy of detecting rapid transition. CONSTITUTION: The number of total frames of a moving picture is identified and a frame comparing frequency to the number of total frames is calculated to be stored at a first memory(S100). The optimum retrieval gap and the minimum frame comparing frequency are nonsequentially calculated based on the number of total frames and the frame comparing frequency to be stored at a second memory(S200). A microprocessor sequentially compares each frame existing in the optimum retrieval gap for retrieving and identifying rapid or gradual transition(S300). Transitted frames are detected to be stored at a third memory(S400). The frames stored at the third memory are converted into a file to be stored at a predetermined recording medium and the stored file is output to a monitor or a printer according to a predetermined program code stored at a fourth memory(S500).
