PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a laundry pole hanger of a new structure and a method of use enabling a laundry pole to be easily retained in such a way that the support arm of the laundry pole is made variable in height in steps. SOLUTION: The laundry pole hanger comprises two members, a fixed member 2 mounted on a wall surface, and an arm member 4. The fixed member 2 has bored therein a plurality of lock pins 8, 9 and 10 that can be fitted respectively into a sliding groove 7 in an arm support shaft 3, and a first lock receiving part 11 and a second lock receiving part 12 provided at the ends of the arm member 4. The arm member 4 can rotate and slide relative to the fixed member 2 on the arm support shaft 3 via an oblong hole 13. By rotating and sliding the arm member 4, the first and second lock receiving parts 11 and 12 of the arm member 4 are fitted around the plurality of lock pins 8, 9 and 10 implanted into the fixed member 4, whereby the arm member 4 is made variable in height over several steps and the arm member 4 can be locked in a storage position.
