PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rewinder for a longitudinal article capable of stably rewinding even super small-gage wire without manual operation by keeping constant the linear velocity and tension of the longitudinal article. SOLUTION: The device comprises a wire feed part 2 for feeding a wire 1 which is in the form of a line or a belt, a wire feed part motor 3 for rotating the wire feed part 2, a winding part 5 for winding the wire 1, a winding part motor 6 for rotating the winding part 5, a tension detecting device 8 for detecting the tension applied to the wire 1, a speed detecting device 9 for detecting the speed of the wire 1, a wire feed part inverter 4 for preparing an operation amount to keep the tension of the wire 1 to a reference value of tension on the basis of the difference between the detected tension value detected by the tension detecting device 5 and the reference value of tension and for supplying the operation amount to the wire feed part motor 3, and a winding part inverter 7 for preparing an operation amount to keep the speed of the wire 1 to a reference value of speed on the basis of the difference between the detected speed detected by the speed detecting device 9 and the reference value of speed and for supplying the operation amount to the winding part motor 6.
