PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate the sorting of fruits and vegetables by grade to distribute the sorted fruits and vegetables to the start ends of a plurality of conveyors put side by side. SOLUTION: In this sorting apparatus for fruits and vegetables, a plurality of conveyors 1 are put side by side and the feed start ends of the conveyors 1 are set to supply parts 2 of fruits and vegetables while the feed terminal parts of them are set to sorting and distribution parts 3 and the supply parts 2 of the conveyors 1 are set to a plurality of quality placing areas 2a and 2a. Each of quality placing areas 2a is set to length enabling a worker present at an intermediate position to place fruits and vegetables on all of regions without almost walking and this quality placing area 2a is divided into a plurality of quality areas and quality sensors 4a and 4b are arranged to the boundary part of the quality areas. A second sensor 5 for detecting the second quality of fruits and vegetables is provided to the boundary part of the supply part 2 and the sorting and distribution part 3 of each of the conveyors 1 and the fruits and vegetables are divided on the basis of first and second qualities to be taken out to the sorting and distribution part 3 of each of the conveyors 1.
