PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light transmissible synthetic resin foam having micropores giving sufficient light transmissivity, and to provide a method for producing the synthetic resin foam by impregnating an inert gas or its supercritical fluid, wherein the time for the impregnation in the method is shortened and, thereby, productivity is improved. SOLUTION: This light transmissible synthetic resin foam has micropores having 10-200 nm average bubble diameter, 10<SP>9</SP>-10<SP>15</SP>/cm<SP>3</SP>bubble number density and≥70% ratio of light transmittance of the form to a non-foam solid having the same shape at 400-800 nm wavelength visible light region. The method for producing the light transmissible synthetic resin foam by impregnating an inert gas or a supercritical fluid into the synthetic resin under a condition of a high pressure and heating and then releasing the pressure is provided. The heating condition is preferably at a temperature lower than the glass transition temperature of the synthetic resin and higher than the glass transition temperature or the melting point of the synthetic resin impregnated with the inert gas or its supercritical fluid.
