<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily improve deploying characteristics of an air bag. <P>SOLUTION: From the state where the air bag 1 is placed flat, an upper deployment part 21 corresponding to the head of an occupant is folded toward the occupant side at the center of the air bag 1. Then, a right and a left deployment parts 22 and 23 are folded overlapping on the occupant side of the upper deployment part 21. Finally, a lower deployment part 22 corresponding to the chest through the abdomen of the occupant is folded to the occupant side of the deployment parts 21, 22 and 23 folded before. Furthermore, a lower corner opposite to the occupant side of the lower deployment part 22 is folded to the center to form a folding part F. At deployment, the folding part F presses the lower deployment part 22, and the air bag 1 is deployed rapidly between the chest of the occupant and a steering wheel before the occupant falls forward. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
