PURPOSE: A paper supply device of an ink jet printer is provided to minimize wear of the gear train transmitting power to a pickup roller and prevent breakage of the pickup roller by rotating the pickup roller with minimum friction without directly contacting the pickup roller to the paper supply cassette out of paper. CONSTITUTION: A paper supply device of an ink jet printer comprises a cassette detachably attached to the body with storing paper, a pickup roller contacted to paper stored in the cassette and rotated to transfer paper to the body, and a buffer member preventing breakage of the pickup roller out of paper in the cassette. The buffer member has a guide part(34) installed in the cassette, a stop unit(39) protruded in the cassette to support both ends of the pickup roller in empting the cassette, a pad(31) sliding between the stop unit and the guide part, and an elastic unit applying restoring force for the opposite direction to supply paper to the printer body.
