PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel assembly having an excellent contaminant arresting performance and a suppressed pressure loss. SOLUTION: A bottom tie plate 5 has a network part 7 having a through-hole for penetrating a bottom end plug 31, holding a fuel rod 2 and a water rod 3, and having a passage for passing a coolant 15, a side wall part 8 extending downward from the periphery of the network part, forming a bottom tie plate cavity 9 below the network part, and having an inlet opening 10 at the lower end, and a partition member 30 having partition member openings 32, 33, arranged horizontally below the network part in the bottom tie plate cavity, and partitioning the bottom tie plate cavity vertically. A bottom end plug passage 36 is formed in the bottom end plug, and the entrance 35 of the bottom end plug passage is positioned in the bottom tie plate cavity and arranged so that the coolant rising from below the partition member flows therein, and the outlet 37 of the bottom end plug passage is arranged over the partition member.
