<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an occupant leg protection device capable of preventing a member ahead of a seat from retracting even if stress applied to an airbag is given from an occupant leg part. <P>SOLUTION: In case of collision of an automobile, a gas generator 6 operates, and the airbag 4 deploys while forcibly opening a door 21 of a cover 20. A backup section 25 is extended upward and horizontally from the door 21 of the cover 20, and the backup section 25 is formed with a rib 26.
