<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To steadily obtain a high quality image by stabilizing the contact of an image carrier with a developing means. <P>SOLUTION: The developing unit is supported by a housing main body (2), rotates on the rotating fulcrums (72 and 73) of both its ends, and is brought into contact with the image carrier (17) and separated therefrom.
