PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a separator for capacitor superior in heat resistance, electrolyte-holding ability, and internal short-circuit preventing property. SOLUTION: This separator for capacitor is made of wet type nonwoven fabric containing a high polymer with a melting point or thermal decomposition temperature of 250°C or higher, and its specific surface area is 4 m<SP>2</SP>/g or more. It preferably contains a fibrillation high polymer whose specific surface area is 16 m<SP>2</SP>/g or more and weight-average fiber length is between 0.2 and 2 mm. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
