A method for fitting a turning tool into a support holder has the tool head provided with both a conical shaft section and a cylindrical section, to fit into a corresponding recess in the tool holder. The two components are secured axially by threaded fittings, with the conical mating surfaces having an elastic fitting, and with a shoulder of the tool head locating against the end of the tool holder. The tool head is held in a tensioned fitting which does not loosen under use and is fitted with a number of cutting blades.
