The present invention relates to a pump assembly, in particular to a mounting arrangement for pumps of the type known as column pumps. Pumps of the type known as column pumps are well known and are used in many situations, in drawing beer from a barrel through cooling tanks prior to dispensing in a bar or public house, for example. Such column pumps are conventionally mounted upon the tank in such way that replacement is a time−consuming task. In the typical installation where commercial considerations are paramount, time taken to replace a faulty pump can often equate to a loss of income. In j order to address this problem, we describe, in combination, a column pump and a surface−mountable mounting plate, the column pump comprising a mounting collar adapted to engage and through rotation be retained by the mounting plate. Typically, the engagement and retention is achieved by means of a bayonet−type arrangement.
