An I.S. glass bottle forming machine is provided with a takeout mechanism (140) which grips a bottle (10) formed from a parison which is blown in a blow mold (12) at a blow station (11) of the I.S. machine. The takeout mechanism (140) displaces the bottle from the pick-up position (Fig.17) to a deadplate position (Figs. 18 and 19), then to a position (Fig. 20) next to a conveyor (15), and then to a deposit position (Fig. 21) where it releases the bottle onto the conveyor (15). The takeout mechanism them returns to grip a second bottle formed in the blow station following the bottle previously removed by the takeout mechanism. <IMAGE> <IMAGE> <IMAGE> <IMAGE>
