PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain chill-blocks which do not allow a die-cast product to entrain gas, by securing the other degassing passage so that the gas may not remain in a cavity while a molten metal reaches one degassing passage where the molten metal solidifies, decrease the number of chill-blocks and obtain chill- blocks wherein the shape and dimensions of degassing passages are made constant, with the positioning adjustment precise so that the molten metal is prevented from solidifying near the inlet of the chill-blocks or from spouting beyond the degassing passages.
SOLUTION: A set of chill-blocks have wide and wavy degassing passages of which one end communicates with an overflow section from a cavity and the other end communicates with the atmosphere or a decompression source, and two or more degassing passage are formed. Further, the degassing passages are formed with wavy grooves along the wave profile of at least one chill-block and with the wave profiles of one set of chill-blocks engaging with each other.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
