PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vinylacetate polymer containing aqueous emulsion the odor of which can be reduced without reducing the contents of acetic acid. SOLUTION: This vinylacetate polymer containing aqueous emulsion comprises 100 pts.wt. vinylacetate polymer containing aqueous emulsion (nonvolatile component) and 0.01-2 pts.wt. at least one kind of compound selected from an alkaline earth metal carboxide, an alkaline earth metal oxide and an alkaline earth metal hydroxide.
