PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seed holder which accurately fixes a crystal orientation of a seed and prevents the seed from inclining when growing a crystal. SOLUTION: The seed holder is a tubular seed holder, which is used in a crystal growing method using a shaft such as the Czochralski method or a floating zone method and which fixes the seed to the shaft. A semi-cylindrical portion, which has such a shape that a cylinder is sheared in parallel to its center axis, is cut out from a tube, leaving end parts of the tube made of a material having a high melting point. The semi-cylindrical portion cut out or a part having a shape as same as the portion and the left tube are fitted on the cut out faces with the seed held between them and furthermore they are fastened together with a metal wire having a high melting point to fix the seed.
