PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display device attached with a protection glass substrate and a projector using the LCD are provided to improve light transmissivity by a space layer or a liquid layer and simplify the fabricating steps of an LCD by joining a protection glass substrate to outer rims of a display part with an adhesive. CONSTITUTION: A liquid crystal display device attached with a protection glass substrate includes a first transparent substrate formed with pixel electrodes and switching elements connected to the pixel electrodes, a second transparent substrate formed with counter electrodes facing the pixel electrodes and facing the first transparent substrate with a predetermined distance, a liquid crystal material implanted between the first and second substrates for alternatively passing or blocking light according to the voltage application, and a protecting glass substrate(10) joined with at least the first substrate via a predetermined space layer(70) from at least the first substrate by a predetermined adhesive element on outer edge parts(50) of the first substrate except a display part(31). The space layer restrains and blocks the transmission of heat of high temperature generated by a light source and component elements of a light path to the inside of the liquid crystal display device.
