PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet material holding drum which is light and has sufficient mechanical strength. SOLUTION: In a rotary drum 16, flange parts 168 are formed at the inner peripheral part of the drum main body 162 corresponding to fitting grooves 164. The wall thickness of the drum main body 162 is secured even in portions where the fitting grooves 164 are formed, thereby the rigidity of the drum main body 162 in the portions is secured. Accordingly, it is not necessary to take into consideration the wall thickness of the portions where the fitting grooves 164 are formed with respect to the wall thickness of the drum main body 162 at portions where the fitting grooves 164 are not formed, and the wall thickness at the portions where the fitting grooves 164 are not formed can be set to be such thickness that can secure necessary minimum rigidity. Thereby, the weight reduction of the drum main body 162 is achieved, which contributes to reduction of torque. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
