PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic disk drive which can easily make VCM fast and narrow data track intervals. SOLUTION: A hole part 10c which penetrates a housing 10 from its internal wall part to its external surface is formed in a flank part 10a of the housing 10 which faces the external circumference part of a disk 3 and part of the disk 3 is inserted into the hole part 10c without contacting it. With this constitution, the position of the center axis 1a of rotation of a spindle motor 1 in the magnetic disk drive and the position of the center axis of rotation of the actuator can be put closer to the hole part 10c by the size of the insertion of part of the disk 3 into the hole part 10c in the contactless state as compared with a general magnetic disk drive, so the space nearby the center of the actuator and in a corner area where a voice coil motor is provided can be increased, so that a torque constant can be increased by increasing the size of the voice coil motor.
