The input torque control method determines the power delivered by the IC engine (4) from the actual engine revs and calculates the power delivered to the transmission (2) by subtracting the power delivered to an electrical generator (5) driven by the engine, for comparison with the maximum permissible input torque and reduction of the engine power when the maximum input torques for the transmission and the generator are exceded.
