The device has a flat arrangement of elastically deformable hollow chambers (2) fillable with gas and joined by elastically deformable bridges, an arrangement (7) for elastically deforming it into an approximate spiral, mine detectors (3) between the chambers, associated signal transmission units and a control unit (5) for positional detection of the transmitted signals. The arrangement can be flattened by filling the hollow chambers with gas. Independent claims are also included for the following: a method of locating land or sea mines and a method of locating land mines.
