PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for controlling the speed of an offset rotary press in which the speed is accurately controlled without complicating a motor controller. SOLUTION: The method for controlling the speed of the offset rotary press comprises the steps of calculating the time for arriving at a desired speed from the present speed of the motor and the accelerating/decelerating rate of the motor, imparting an acceleration or deceleration command from the controller of the press to the motor controller, and then stopping the acceleration/ deceleration command when the time is elapsed.
