PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a filtration and concentration apparatus having a compact structure in which a concentration apparatus and a compression filtration apparatus are used in common by one apparatus and a method thereof. SOLUTION: An original liquid treatment part 31 is provided between a pair of filter clothes 6, 6 between a compression plate 3 having a compression membrane 5 and a filter plate 4 adjacent to the compression plate across the filter cloth 6. The original liquid treatment part functions as an original liquid concentration part when a process that a filtrate is discharged with the discharge of the original liquid and an original liquid flow passage is blown is repeated and functions as an original liquid filtration and compression filtration part in which only the filtrate is discharged through the filter cloth when only the filtrate is discharged through the original liquid is not discharged and a cake is compressed by the compression membrane.
