PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate input work for a worker. SOLUTION: When an interval A between holes 201 and 203 and a distance B between the hole 203 and a needle drop position are inputted by the worker, a controller 150 calculates a root coiling width D by adding the double of the distance B to the interval A. In the case of button sewing, a sewing machine 1 is controlled by the controller 150 on the basis of the interval A. Thus, button sewing is performed by the sewing machine 1 so that an interval between a left root thread 205 and a right root thread 206 can become the interval A. Afterwards, the button is made fall down and root coiling sewing is performed by the sewing machine 1. In this case, the sewing machine 1 is controlled by the controller 150 on the basis of the distance D. Thus, root coiling sewing is performed by the sewing machine 1 while swinging a sewing needle 5 from side to side to become the distance D.
