PURPOSE: A method for improving fingerprint recognition performance through the adaptive binarization and the feature point correction is provided to improve a processing speed of the fingerprint recognition by simultaneously performing the direction information extraction, the quality measurement and background separation, and the binarization of a fingerprint image through the Sobel operator. CONSTITUTION: The direction information is extracted from the fingerprint image. The quality measurement and the background separation are performed by using the direction information of the fingerprint image. The adaptive binarization and the thinning for the fingerprint image are performed by using the direction information. The feature point is extracted from the fingerprint image by using the CN(Crossing count Number) method. The false feature point are removed from the extracted feature point by using the VHN(Vertical and Horizontal Number) method.
