The piezo element comprise multiple layers (2) with internal electrodes (3,4,5,6) between them. The element is separated from a piezo block formed of green film, prior to sintering. The layers are dimensioned so that after sintering, a piezo element is obtained for which the formation of electrical contacts involves processing only at the side surfaces (8) to which the internal electrodes are contacted. An Independent claim is also included for a method of manufacturing a piezo-element.
