HYPOXIA-REGULATED GENES

This invention relates to novel genes and gene products that are implicated in certain disease states. These genes have been identified by a novel method that comprises the steps of comparing: i) the transcriptome or proteome of a first specialised cell type that is implicated in the disease or condition under conditions of both normoxia and hypoxia; with ii) the transcriptome or proteome of a second specialised cell type under conditions of both normoxia and hypoxia; and identifying as a gene implicated in the disease or physiological condition, a gene that is differentially regulated in the two specialised cell types under the two different conditions compared.
