METHOD FOR COMPACT REPRESENTATION OF MULTI-CODE SIGNALING IN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

PURPOSE: A method for the compact representation of multi-code signaling in a communication system is provided to maintain a high HS-DSCH(High Speed-Downlink Shared CHannel) spectral efficiency and RRM flexibility. CONSTITUTION: A base station(10) is operably connected to a network(22). Network devices(12-20) are operably connected to the base station(10) via the network(22). The base station(10) determines the number of multi-codes and a code offset used by the network device. The base station(10) encodes the number of multi-codes and the code offset into a codeword including the compact representation of multi-code signaling. The codeword is encodable by the base station(10) and is decodable by a remote device without the need for a look-up table.
