[Class 83 (iv)] A roller-welding head for longitudinally seaming tubes &c. comprises two integral units insulatedly secured together and mounted in end-bearings. Each unit comprises an electrode-disc 1 at the end of a shaft 3 carrying a hollow annular contact drum 2 dipping in mercury &c. held in a container 8 on a bracket 7. A detachable electrode-rim 20 secured in a periplieral groove of the disc 1 has an annular side-channel 22 for cooling liquid circulated from a face recess 18 in the disc 1. The recess is connected to an inlet pipe 15 by the drum interior 2a and to an outlet 16. The rim 20 may be made in two parts, and the disc 1, drum 2 and shaft 3 as a single casting. |
