PURPOSE: To provide amorphous and X-ray highly opaque inorganic particles which comprise silica and one or more inorganic oxides except the silica and are used as a dental material. CONSTITUTION: The inorganic particles which are used as a dental material and comprise 70 to 98 wt.% of silica and the oxides of one or more elements selected from Zr, Ti, La, Ba, Sr, Hf, Y, Zn, Al, and B, is characterized in that 5 to 70 wt.% and 95 to 30 wt.% of the silica originate from an acidic acid solution and a silica sol, respectively. The inorganic particles for the dental material have an average particle diameter of 1 to 10μm, a specific surface area of 50 to 350 m�2/g, a fine pore volume of 0.05 to 0.5 ml/g and a refractive index of l.47 to 1.60, and is amorphous by an X-ray diffraction analysis. |
