PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a long medium printer, e.g. a tube printer, in which the time required for printing can be calculated and displayed at the time of printing print data generated in units of block. SOLUTION: A section 504 for calculating the time required for printing determines the print length of print data 300 based on block length information set in each block data, and then determines the time required for printing residual print data based on the print length thus determined and the carrying speed of a long medium M. The calculated printing time is displayed at a display section 12 and informed to a user.
