PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-speed response liquid crystal composition keeping a bookshelf structure and reduced in a lowering of the upper limit of a liquid crystal temperature range and in a decrease in a tilt angle. SOLUTION: There are provided a liquid crystal composition comprising at least one naphthalene compound represented by formula (1) and at least one optically inactive stilbene compound represented by formula (2) and a liquid composition using the composition.
