The method for obtaining a figure eight descender constituted by two successive hollowed zones (2,3) connected together by a thin zone (4) consists of deforming a metal section portion to give it its final figure of eight shape. Firstly a straight section is cut in a filiform section of length corresponding to that of the descender. The straight portion is deformed to give it its figure of eight shape and then the descender ends are assembled.
