PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an amorphous silica based filler for an ink jet recording paper, which can include in high density at the preparation of a water base coating liquid and, at the same time, the viscosity of the formed coating liquid can also be suppressed low, and an ink jet recording paper using thereof. SOLUTION: This filler for the ink jet recording paper comprises an amorphous silica, the volume standard average particle diameter (D50 ) measured by the coal tar counter method of which is 2 to 15 μm, the BET specific surface area of which is 5 to 250 m<2> /g, the pore volume measured by the BET method of which is 0.05 to 0.5 ml/g, the bulk density measured by the iron cylinder method of which is 0.15 to 0.70 and which has excellent wetting properties. |
