PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tool detachably mounted on a spindle of a machine tool, adaptable to be driven without the need for connection to an external power source, less in thermal expansion and automatically exchangeable. SOLUTION: The tool comprises a cutting edge 100 for machining a work, a motor 80 for driving the cutting edge 100, a generator 70 for generating electric power to drive the motor 80, a mounting part 62 to be mounted on a spindle 46 for transmitting rotating force from the spindle 46 to the generator 70, a case 65 holding the motor 80 and the generator 70 and rotatably holding the mounting part 62 and having cooling grooves 107, 108 for passing a cooling medium 101 to cool the motor 80 and the generator 70, and a baffle 85 fitted to a non-rotational part 47 near the spindle 46 for restricting the rotation thereof. The cooling medium 101 is supplied from the baffle 85 and distributed into the cooling grooves 107, 108 for cooling the tool 60 itself as well as the generator 70 and the motor 80.
