PURPOSE: A method for managing messages of a mobile communication terminal is provided to set up a locking function for a message requiring continuous storage, so as to prevent the message from being deleted without permission. CONSTITUTION: If a message is received from the other party(SA1), a user is asked whether to select a locking function of the message(SA2). A password of the user is inputted if the user selects the locking function(SA3). The inputted password is compared with a pre-stored password(SA4). If the passwords are not coincident with each other, an error message is displayed(SA5). If the passwords are coincident with each other, a locking flag for the message is set as 'true', or '1'(SA6). The received message is stored in an in-box, and the message is displayed with a predetermined icon when a message list is displayed on a screen(SA7). If the user selects 'empty in-box', locking flags for messages stored in the in-box are checked to delete messages set as only 'false', or '0'.
