PURPOSE: A color sorting device for granular objects having an optical detecting device comprising a CCD(Charge Coupled Device) linear sensor is provided to improve sorting accuracy and cut down manufacturing cost. CONSTITUTION: An optical detecting device used for a color sorting device includes a CCD linear sensor. The CCD linear sensor has a plurality of photodetectors arranged in one line to detect red, green and blue wavelengths. In addition, the CCD linear sensor receives lights from a background plate(12) irradiated by granular objects, a red light source(14), a green light source(15), and a blue light source(16). The red, green, and blue light sources are switched while granular objects pass an optical detection range(X). The CCD linear sensor receives light from the granular objects with synchronizing with the switching motion of the light sources.
