PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow only a specific apparatus to access (remote control) an apparatus in a digital television (DTV) 1394 home network and to prevent the apparatus concerned from being uselessly accessed by a user from the apparatus having no access right by making the apparatus 'invisible' as an AV apparatus. SOLUTION: An electronic apparatus is provided with an 1394 bus interface and a microcomputer (MC) for controlling the bus interface and the whole apparatus. In receiving a command for inquiring the sort ID of the apparatus, the MC decides which is to be selected out of previously determined two sort IDs and transmits a command including the selected sort ID.
