PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication system that includes an efficient error correction system and transmits/receives a multi-value (a prime number in excess of 2) signal. SOLUTION: A transmitter is provided with: a binary multi-value conversion means that converts a transmission binary signal into a multi-value (a prime number in excess of 2) signal as an information sequence; an encoding means that generates a transmission sequence comprising a BCH code on a Galois field the original number of which is a prime number in excess of 2 on the basis of the multi-value signal as the information sequence; a multi-value modulation means that applies multi-value modulation to the transmission sequence and transmits the result to a receiver. The receiver is provided with: a demodulation means that demodulates the signal received from the transmitter to obtain a multi-value (a prime number in excess of 2) received sequence; a decoding means that decodes the received sequence by using a decoding method of a BCH code on a Galois field the original number of which is a prime number, in excess of 2 to obtain a multi-value (a prime number in excess of 2) signal as a decode sequence; and a multi-value binary conversion means that obtains a decoded binary signal from the multi-value signal as the decoded sequence. |
