The invention relates to a method for regulating the dosing process of an injection moulding machine and in particular the approach to a dosing position for the screw at the end of the dosing process. According to the invention, a braking region (As), dependent on the axial return speed of the screw (4), is determined, in which the axial sped is reduced during the braking region such that the screw reaches an exact end position (sE). The rotation speed of the screw is thus varied according to the current axial return speed of the screw. Non-linearities on a change of the rotation speed with relation to a change in the axial return speed can thus be compensated.
