The invention concerns a device for preparing beverages from capsules containing a substance to be extracted in an extraction system (7) for preparing beverages. The device comprises a storage system (2) comprising capsules classified into several series (20-23) and seizing means (4) for individually seizing one capsule in a series and for releasing the capsule i n an extraction system (7). The seizing means (4) is mobile between the storag e system (2) and the extraction system (7) and is designed to take up at least two positions, one first receiving position wherein the capsule is retained and transferable by the seizing means (4) and a second releasing position wherein the seizing means (4) can be opened to release the capsule from the seizing means.
