<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compound which is excellent in properties such as thermal stability and dissolving property and useful when applied for a nonlinear optical material. SOLUTION: The compound is a polymer for a nonlinear optical material containing a monomer unit expressed by formula (1). In the formula, X represents a halogen atom, m' is 1 or 2, R<1> represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group which may have a substituent, R<2> represents a phenylazo group having a substituent or a vinyl group having at least one cyano group, n is an integer of 1 to 12 and Ar represents a bivalent organic group.</p> |
