摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum defoamer able to defoam a large flow quantity of fused glass even when bubbles flown in the vacuum defoamer are increased rapidly, and not occurring defects such as bubble, stoning and ream, with minimum cost. SOLUTION: The vacuum defoamer is equipped with a vacuum housing 12 whose inside pressure is reduced by vacuum suction, a vacuum defoaming chamber 14 set in the vacuum housing 12 and to defoam fused glass which flows down, a flowing up pipe 16 connected to the vacuum defoaming chamber 14 and to introduce the fused glass before vacuum defoaming to the vacuum defoaming chamber 14 by flowing it up and a downcomer 18 connected to the vacuum defoaming chamber 14 and to introduce the fused glass after vacuum defoaming from the vacuum defoaming chamber 14 by flowing it down. The characteristics of the defoamer is that a cross section area of a flow path at an upper end 16c of the flowing up pipe 16 is larger than that at an lower end 16d of the flowing up pipe 16.
