PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for stereoselectively producing a 2,3-substituted succinic acid derivative, by which the 2,3-substituted succinic acid derivative useful as an intermediate for synthesizing useful substances such as a matrix metalloproteinase-inhibiting compound and having a specific steric configuration can efficiently be obtained in greatly high diastereo-selectivity. SOLUTION: This method for stereo-selectively producing the 2,3-substituted succinic acid derivative, comprising a process for producing the salt mixture of a 2(R),3(RS)-2,3-substituted succinic acid derivative (I) with an amine compound or the salt mixture of a 2(S),3(RS)-2,3-substituted succcinic acid derivative (III) with the amine compound, and a process for recrystallizing the salt mixture. Thereby, the 2(R),3(S)-2,3-substituted succinic acid derivative (I) or the 2(S),3(R)-2,3-substituted succinic acid derivative (IV) can efficiently optically be resolved and obtained in high stereoselectivity. |
