PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the weight balance of spectacle lenses without increasing the total weight of spectacles even if the prescription values of the eye to be examined vary with the right and left. SOLUTION: The system 31 for designing the spectacle lenses comprises first predesigning a pair of the right and left spectacle lenses in accordance with the specification information acquired from an order placement terminal 21. Next, whether the weight differences of the respective spectacle lenses from each other excess the prescribed value or not is decided and when the weight difference is decided to exceed the prescribed value, the lens blanks in at least predesigning are changed in such a manner that the weight difference attains the first value or below and the Abbe number diffraction between the respective lenses attains the second value or below. The spectacle lenses are redesigned by the contents of this change.
