PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a side impact bar for a car door easily manufacturable, structured with a high strength, not requiring welding in manufacturing, unlikely to generate corrosion, and assuring the layout to inside the door to be made as easy as a pipe. SOLUTION: The side impact bar for the car door is structured so that a channel-shaped inner plate A having at the end a bracket 2 for fixation to a door panel and an outer plate B having around the center in the width direction a folded-back projection 4 to abut to the plate A are joined together at their edges, wherein the edge of the inner plate A forms a folded-back edge 5 outward from the side wall, and dislocation stopping recesses 7 and 8 are provided at the folded-back edge 5 of the inner plate A and the edge of the outer plate B, and a separation preventing pawl 10 is formed at the base of the folded-back part by means of cutting off and also a hole 11 for coating is formed. The invention also includes a method of manufacturing such side impact bars.
